Apparently, I've started a blog.
And it looks dull! So I'll work on it.
With my technologically savvy skills, I will whip this into shape and make it look like a work of art.
My name is Taryn.
I'm a writer, editor, storyteller. I'm a reader, a mover and shaker, a wanderlust sufferer. I'm a full time Shadowhunter, a permanent Bibliophile.
I'm proud of these traits.
In my second posts, I will try to share even more about myself.
So first post choices ...
I got it! You get your first book recommendation from me.
First up!
My top favorite book gets mentioned.
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
Most people will recognize this book from their High School reading lists.
It was a book you were forced to read and you probably went through it so fast that you didn't bother to pay attention to the story. It's poignant, it's thought provoking, and it's a piece of literary genius.
Scout Finch lives with her brother Jem and their father Atticus in Maycomb, Alabama.
It's the Great Depression and it has hit Maycomb just like everywhere else. One particular summer, a boy named Dill moves in and befriends the Finch siblings. Soon, Dill becomes fascinated with one of their neighbors, Nathan Radley and the story of Arthur "Boo" Radley who hasn't come out of his house in years. Among the different games and tricks they deploy to lure "Boo" out, there's a bigger issue. Atticus Finch has been called to represent a black man accused of attacking a white woman in a time when that would automatically lead to the man's guilt without a necessary trial. Scout's childlike innocence reveals that in her world, she doesn't understand why this can happen. She sees truth and isn't afraid to voice it.
Welcome to my blog. Welcome to the madness.
